DESCRIPTION:The Great Delaware Kite Festival\, co-sponsored by the Lewes Ch
 amber of\nCommerce and the Delaware\nDivision of Parks and Recreation\, an
 nually takes place at Cape\nHenlopen State Park on Good Friday. This year\
 ,\nthe festival is celebrating its 58 th Anniversary. The Easter\nBunny’
 s appearance is a longtime feature of the event\nthat will continue again 
 this year. An Easter Egg Hunt was added to\nthe festivities 12 years ago a
 nd it will\ncontinue to kick off the event at 11 a.m. This year the hunt i
 s\nsponsored by County Bank and includes 4\,000\nplastic eggs filled with 
 candy. The Cape May – Lewes Ferry and\nSouthern Delaware Tourism are als
 o\nsponsoring this year’s event. The kite competitions for children and\
 nteens are scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.\nbut could be sooner if the eg
 g hunt is completed before then. The\nhighest kite competition follows at\
 napproximately 1 p.m. and is open to all ages. The awards ceremony for\nth
 ose competitions includes medallion\nawards sponsored by Lewes Chamber mem
 bers. The adult competitions\nfollow the first awards ceremony. The\nevent
  concludes with the awards ceremony for the adult competitions.\nNote that
  the times may vary according\nto weather conditions and the number of com
 petitors.\nKite competition registrations begin at 10 a.m. with ample oppo
 rtunity\nfor kite competitors to practice in the\nfield adjacent to the co
 mpetition area. All of the activities are free\nincluding the Easter Egg H
 unt. The Easter\nEgg Hunt will be limited to children up to the age of 12.
 \nPre-registration for the Easter Egg Hunt is not\nnecessary but participa
 nts are encouraged to arrive at the park much\nearlier than 11 a.m.\, when
  it is scheduled to\nstart. Parking for the event is at the park’s Beach
  Parking lot and\ntime is required to be transported back to the\nevent lo
 cation within the park.\n
